Railway employees to get 77 days wages as Bonus.

The Union Cabinet has approves payment of Productivity Linked Bonus to the Railway employees to the extent of 77 days wages for the financial year 2009-10 as proposed by Ministry of Railway.

This will be the highest PLB payment ever to be made by Railways. Last year it was 75 days. Approximately 1.292 million non gazetted Group B, C and D employees are likely to benefit from this decision. PLB is based on the productivity indices reflecting the performance of the Railways.The financial implication of payment of 77 days’ PLB to railway employees has been estimated to be INR 1065.42 crore.

The wage calculation ceiling prescribed for payment of PLB to the eligible non gazetted railway employees (excluding RPF/RPSF personnel) is INR 3500 per month which will be around INR 8860.00 per employee.

Dearness Allowance hike 10% from July 2010.

Dearness Allowance (DA) raised to 10 % for Central Government Employees and pensioners from july 2010.It has been approved by Cabinet – Ministry of Finance ahead of the featival season. This Dearness Allowance (DA) has been considered as the high rate of inflation in the past six months.
The decision to raise the dearness allowance over the basic pay from 35 to 45 per cent to compensate the rising prices will cost the exchequer an additional Rs.9,303.2 crore per annum, the spokesperson said, adding the new allowance would come into effect from July 1, 2010.

Expected D.A hike from July 2010.

It is expected that a 10% Hike in Dearness allowance for Central Government employees from July 2010 due to increase of consumer price index. The present D.A is 35% from January 2010. Normally D.A for central government increases twice in an year (January & July) to meet the increasing consumer price index. It is expected that the D.A may be increased to 45% from July 2010.

Didi announces 'House for All' Scheme for Railway Employee.

Ms. Mamata Banerjee Minister for Railways proposed a new scheme of 'House for All' railway employees in next 10 years.


Presenting the Rail Budget in Lok Sabha, Ms Banerjee said, "Such a scheme would provide residences to all railway employees in the next ten years with the help of Ministry of Urban Development."


"There are 14 lakh employees of Indian Railways - from officers to gangmen and the scheme will benefit all of them", she added.

Central Govt. emlployees gets 8% DA from Jan 1, 2010.

The Union Cabinet decided to release an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners with effect from January 1, 2010.

An official press release said this represented an increase of over 8 per cent over th existing rate of 27 per cent of the basic pay/pension to compensate for price rise.

The release said the increase was in accordance with the accepted formula, which is based on the recommendations of the Sixth Central Pay Commission.

The combined impact on the exchequer on account of both dearness allowance and dearness relief would be of the order of Rs.6969.36 crore per annum and Rs.8131.20 crore in the financial year 2010-2011 (for a period of 14 months from January, 2010 to February, 2011), the release added.
